Volkswagen Golf GTI: Paintwork Correction & Protection

First of all, I would love to wish everyone Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year 2013 in advance! Well, pretty busy lately and some issue going around. Thats why i've been away for quite some time. Meanwhile, I bought a new camera months ago which is the Panasonic Lumix LX-7, quite not bad for a semi pro camera. Macro shot are fantastic, can capture more defects on the car paint now.

This GTI is belong one of my friend. There are some re-painted surfaces such as the side door, front & rear bonnet, front & rear bumper. The paint job is good but unfortunately they still left some compound marring on the re-painted surface and feeling a little rough. So, the conclusion is.. We need to polish the paint, and then end up sacrificing the clear coat and finally, you shorten the clear coat's life.

News: German Fest @ Times Square, Penang

Good day!

I'll be heading to Penang end of the week to check out some hot stuff, German Fest! Which organized by Volkswagen Owner Club Malaysia, more than 100 German cars will be there for a big car show held at Times Square, Penang! Hopefully i could snap more pictures on that day and role my eyes a little, hehehe. Btw, those who are going, see you there!

BMW F10 520i: Opti-Coated

Good day,

Another Opti-Coated BMW F10 520i since months back, this car condition is good. No major correction were carry out during preparation. Somehow, there is bird poop etched on the hood i didnt manage to remove cause its too deep. Without sacrificing too much of clear coat, i didnt go any further. Other panels such as doors, roof, rear bonnet were polished and finished with OHP. Finishing was done with Flex that i borrowed from Seech. Thanks!

As usual, this is the 7th F10 i detailed so far included another  BMW F10 520d, i will post it up soon. I found all the BMWs have one same issue which have micro-marring on the paintwork that not properly finish by the previous detailer before sending to the owner. I really hope all the readers who wanted to invest a BMW should ask the dealer not to send for polish & wax session even tho its free. Here is very good example BMW F10 528i M-Sport which whacked by the previous detailer.

For not delaying, lets continue the article for today. firstly, i wash the car with ONR since there is not much dirt on the paintwork, surface were smoothen with PermaGlass, ONR as lube. Rims and tires were cleaned with DFX 1:1 and OPC 1:3, engine wiped down with Opti-Clean, paintwork polished with rotary and finished with Flex, wiped down with IPA and Opti-Coated all around except rims.
